Increasing the Service Life of Glass Melt Contact Refractories

2009
The present article describes a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods for refining refractory bricks in contact with glass melt. By integrating aluminium as a reducing agent into the ceramic structure of the bricks, it is possible to increase the interfacial tension, thus counteracting the infiltration of pores with melt as well as the progress of corrosion.
