SEPARATION OF La$sup 140$-Y$sup 91$, La$sup 140$-Pm$sup 147$, AND Sr$sup 90$-Y$sup 90$ WITH THE TRIVALENT CERIUM IODATE PRECIPITATE

1960
Experiments uncovered complete La/sup 140/, Pm/sup 147/, Y/sup 90/ >s, and Sr/sup 90/ bonding by trivalent cerium precipitation in saturated KIO/sub 3/ solution. It is postulated that ions and KIO/sub 3/ do not form soluble ion complexes. Slow decomposition of complex cerium and presence of KIO/sub 3/ create conditions inducing homogeneous Ce/sup 3+/ iodate precipitation and separation of the mixtures of La/sup 140/-Y/sup 91/ and Sr/sup 90/-Y/sup 90/ on the pr ecipitant.
