On the formation of texture in deep drawing steels

1995
An investigation of the recrystallization of a cold rolled deep drawing steel shows that at temperatures below 550°C a sharp {111} texture is formed but starting with the same cold rolled state recrystallization at 600°C gives a weak {111} texture. At 550°C only some grains with {111} orientation grow during recrystallization within highly deformed areas. For an intermediate time the grain growth is delayed by inclusions without formation of new grains. At 600°C with the beginning of recrystallization many grains start growing at all areas of the microstructure. At all temperatures after recrystallization of 20% the recrystallized grains have orientations which are very close to that after complete recrystallization. A detailed analysis shows that the mechanism can be described by a recrystallization in situ
