Cuestionario de evaluación de estereotipos negativos hacia la vejez Original

2005
Summary It has been shown that expectations of negative old age stereotypes can influence the behaviour and physical and psychological health of elderly people. The evaluation tools available in our country are few and do not gather enough psychometric properties. This study has designed a questionnaire for negative old age stereotypes apart from the other two existing ones: the Montorio and Izal and the Palmore questionnaire. The research sample consited of 757 non-institutionalised individuals between the ages of 65 and 96. The factorial analysis has distinguished three dimensions of old age stereotypes referring to health, motivation and personality. This tool presents an acceptable internal consistency. The results are discussed from the perspective of its usefulness in the intervention and evaluation of elderly people.
