Tennessee Valley Authority's low-level radioactive waste management and associated environmental impacts

1981
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has established independent low-level radioactive waste (LLRW), management plans for the Browns Ferry, Sequoyah, and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants. The system planned for each plant consists of two long-term elements: construction and operation of an Onsite Storage Facility designed to safely store the LLRW generated; and possible installation and operation of equipment designed for volume reduction and solidification of LLRW. TVA prepared an environmental assessment on the LLRW management plans for each of the three construction and operation of the facilities have been identified.
