On oxidation of decamethylferrocene with BaMnO4, a mixture of mono- and dialdehydes is formed.

The reaction of nonamethylferrocenyl aldehyde with LiAl(OBu-t)3H and organic derivatives of lithium and magnesium gave rise to previously unknown primary and secondary alcohols.
3.
Primary carbenium ion salts stabilized by nonamethyl substitution of ferrocene were isolated for the first time and their transformation to paramagnetic compounds was discovered.
