IMPACTO DA INFECÇÃO POR HIV E DA TERAPIA ANTIRRETROVIRAL SOBRE A FUNÇÃO SEXUAL FEMININA

2020
Verify if is there any difference between the prevalence of sexual dysfunction and in scores of domains of sexual function among groups of women HIV infected (WI) and of women HIV not infected (WNI), and whether there is an association between sexual dysfunction and use of antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Methods: A cross-sectional study included 244 sexually active women, of which 123 were WI and 121were WNI. Sexual function was assessed by the Sexual Quotient female-version (QS-F). Results: There was a significant difference in the prevalence of sexual dysfunction between WI and WNI (25.2 and 9.9%, p = 0.002) and in the sexual domain scores: desire (p <0.001) and orgasm (p <0.01). There was no significant difference in the prevalence of sexual dysfunction among HAART users and non-users. Conclusions: There was a higher prevalence of sexual dysfunction in WI. The use of HAART was not associated with increased sexual dysfunction.
