Efficient Laser Operation of Nd:Sc2O3 at 966 nm, 1082nm and 1486nm

Efficient laser operation was realized in Nd:ScLiNbO2OLiNbO3 at 966nm (η=43%), 1082nm (η=58%), and 1486nm (η=24%) with 1200mW of absorbed pump from a Ti:Al2O3 laser. Absorption, emission and excited state absorption cross sections were measured. Peak cross sections are σabs= 7.1 10-20cm2 at 825nm in absorption, and σSE= 1.9 10-20cm2 at 966nm, σSE= 8.2 10-20cm2 at 1082nm, and σSE= 5.5 10-20cm2 at 1367nm in emission. It is supposed that lasing on the strong emission line at 1367nm is prevented by excited state absorption.
