Dielectric properties of water and ice: a unified treatment

2019
AbstractBroadband dielectric spectra of water and ice reveal similar temperature run of the static permittivity, e(0), and spectral shape of the Debye relaxation. We suggest an approach to describe these features uniformly. We extend to ice the model recently developed by us for water. The model explains the 6 orders magnitude difference between the Debye relaxation time in water and ice, as well as alike temperature behavior of e(0), by bipolar diffusion of counter charges.
