Kızamık enfeksiyonu geçiren çocuklarda serum aspartal aminotransferaz (AST), alanin aminotransferaz (ALT) ve amilaz düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesi

2006
Objective: In children with measles infection we aimed to assess prospectively the serum aspartat-and alanin aminotransferase levels fort he evaluation of hepatic involvement and serum amilase levels for the pancreatic involvement. Materials and Methods:, 53 children aged 2-120 months referring to our clinic between April-June 2001 with typical signs and symptoms of measles were evaluated by epidemiologic data, serum measles IgM antibody. In children with antibody seropositivity are evaluated in children with antibody positivity on the fifth and fourteenth day of measles rash serum AST, ALT, amilase levels were assessed. Results: 30 of 53 children (56.6 %) had serum measles IgM positive. 26.6% of them had high AST levels, but ALT and amilase levels were in normal ranges on the fifth day of rash. We observed statistically significant drop of serum AST and amilase levels , but no change of ALT levels on the fourteenth day. Conclusion: The course of hepatic dysfunction in children with measles infection is asymptomatic, subclinic and it resolves in two weeks spontaneously. Serum AST levels may help to reveal the hepatic involvement during the course of measles infection.
