Effects of oral taurine supplement on abnormal blood pressure in population

To observe the double modulation effects of oral taurine on abnormal blood pressure in population. After screening on blood pressure of college students, 40 volunteers were chosen in the trial, one hypertension population and the other hypotension population. In the double-blind experiment, either group was given taurine and placebo respectively. SBP and DBP were measured before and after 4 weeks duration. Results showed: In the entire population, taurine down-regulated the blood pressures to some extent, and the difference of SBP between the two groups was significantly (P0.05). The results concluded that oral taurine supplement may down-regulate the abnormal blood pressure, it is worth of further study.
