The Bandung Soil Characteristics as a Function of Injection Current Frequency For Electrical Grounding Systems

2016
As is widely known, the grounding system in electrical power is a part of electrical installation for people safety and equipment protection. Safety for all people that near the electrical installation some time can touch this installation not purposely, and at the same time any fault of the phase line of electrical system to part or body of the electrical equipment. Special for safety, the impedance of the electrical grounding systems must be low (small). This value of the grounding impedance depends on the characteristics of soil where the grounding is laid. Before to design the grounding system is good condition, we have to know well about the characteristic of the soil. The electrical grounding for the lightning protection or for the alternating current systems must be designed accurately, and because of the lightning have high current and high frequency and the properties of soil at high frequency is very difference than at low frequency, so for designing we have to know the resistivity and permittivity of the soil and the grounding impedance is not linear performance to frequency. If the condition of properties of soil is not good for high frequency so the soil must be treated by the several methods to make the good value of these properties. The treatment method for making a good property is to mix the soil with solution of salt, carbon, water. All the treatment can make the properties of soil will be changed and made to be a good soil for grounding system especially salt treatment. In this experiment we put the soil from Bandung West Java Province Indonesia.
