Error probability as a function of baudrate, time and operating frequency for HF radio links

1993
A computer algorithm was developed to calculate the error probability as a function of data rate (bps). time and frequency for a given HF-radio path. for a standard FSK signal. Also the Doppler-shift and the channel occupation was estimated for the radio link. In order to determine the error probability, the fading phenomenon was taken into account. A statistical approach was necessary-the 'random-walk method'-in which each mode was represented as a phasor with a constant magnitude, but random phase. The channel occupancy was determined via a mathematical model proposed by Laycock et. al. (1988). in which the spectral density between 2 and 30 MHz, obtained through measurements with a measuring receiver. was processed on a statistical basis.
