Lubricating condition analysis of cylinder lateral extrusion and study on lubricant burden

2013
Lubrication condition of lateral extrusion for producing cylinders with boss plays an important role. The effect of lubrication conditions on equivalent strain during deformation has been analyzed, and the effect on punch load has been simulated. The results show that the equivalent strain, deformation of the cylinder wall and the average punch load has been increased while the friction coefficient is increased, but the fluctuation of punch load has been reduced.Through comprehensive analysis, the conclusion has been settled that the best extrusion result can be obtained at the friction coefficient being 0.25.The water-based graphite lubricant is suitable for isothermal extrusion of aluminum alloy. In order to obtain the friction coefficient,5 different lubricants with different content of graphite have been prepared.Through frictional experimental analysis the friction coefficient of every lubricant has been found. The experimental results show that the friction coefficient reached to 0.25 while the graphite content is 18%,and this burden ratio is suitable for lateral extrusion of aluminum alloy cylinder with boss.
