Spectral broadening of intense femtosecond pulses in atmospheric air

1987
Abstract Measurement of the frequency spectra reveals that intense femtosecond pulses suffer strong spectral broadening upon propagating through atmospheric air. Distortions of the pulse spectra become noticeable when the product peak intensity times interaction length approaches 5 × 10 11 W/cm.
