Synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction study of the phase I' compound: SnLa3Rh4Sn12

1991
The structure of the phase I' compound Sn(1)La3Rh4Sn(2)12 has been investigated by Rietveld refinement of synchrotron x-ray powder diffraction data. It has cubic symmetry, space group I4132, with a=19.492A, and is a superstructure of that of phase I stannides with aI'=2 aI, due to the distortion of the Sn(1)Sn(2)12 icosahedra related to a charge transfer from Sn(2) toward Sn(1) atoms.
