PROPELLER DESIGN ASPECTS OF LARGE, HIGH-SPEED SHIPS

1974
The state-of-the-art of propeller design for large, high-speed ships is reviewed. Cavitation effects on efficiency, vibration, and strength are emphasized since propeller designs for this type of ship are for the most part controlled by cavitation considerations. Trade-offs necessary in carrying out a propeller design are discussed along with the criteria required. The trade-offs and criteria are discussed more philosophically than definitive since they can only be discussed in general terms.
