Clinical staging of prostatic cancer: new modalities

1984
Carcinoma of the prostate gland is currently recognized as being the third leading cause of death by cancer in American men. As in other neoplastic disease processes, the institution of adequate treatment depends on the clinical stage of the disease. Radionuclide bone scans, pelvic lymphangiography, computed tomography, and prostatic ultrasonography are relatively new imaging modalities currently available to help improve the accuracy of the clinical staging process.
