Plan de gestion des pestes et des pesticides

2010
The long-term objectives of the Food Security Project of Senegal are to increase by 2015 non-traditional agricultural exports from the current level of 13,000 tons to 50,000 tons, and double participant producer revenues. Specifically, the program will: (i) rationalize and improve domestic markets of crops and animal products; (ii) promote and expand exports of higher value-added, non-traditional agricultural exports (i.e., horticultural products, confectionary nuts, essential oils, spices, and processed foods) in the Niayes areas where the costs of land, labor and water are increasing rapidly; (iii) develop private irrigation to support the expansion of commercial agriculture in the Senegal River Valley; (iv) revitalize the confectionery groundnut sector and support activity modernization in the broader Groundnut Basin, and (v) improve the collection and commercialization of fruits and cashew nuts in the Casamance region. All components will have positive impacts on the whole economy. However, the components A, B and C (Improving the markets conditions; Development of agricultural exportation and Development of private irrigation) will have negative effects on environment resources. For these activities, mitigation measures are proposed in the ESMF.
