Synthesis of Pinonamide from α-Pinene

Pinonamide was synthesized from α-pinene which was the principal constituent of turpentine through the reactions of oxidation,chlorination and ammoniation.The factors affected the chlorination reaction were discussed in detail. The experimental results showed that applied phosphorus trichloride as the chlorinating agent,the process conditions were mild and simple,the yield was good.
