1981
Research to evaluate and improve the ability to respond effectively to spills of floating oil and hazardous materials has been performed at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's OHMSETT test facility since August 1974. Over 84 devices were tested under 73 research programs from August 1974 through November 1979. This summary report describes results of tests on commercial, prototype, and model devices designed to control, contain, recover, detect or measure floating oil and hazardous material spills. It also describes research into oil weathering, environmental monitoring, spill behavior and chemical treating agents. Conclusions, data tables, and lists of available reports and films are included.
