Formation of a near {001}〈110〉 recrystallization texture in electrical steels

Abstract A recrystallization texture with a strong maximum on the α-fibre at {117}〈110〉 what is 12° close to {001}〈110〉 is formed after two subsequent cold rolling and recrystallization steps. During the first recrystallization after a rolling reduction of 90% a texture characterized by a maximum on the γ-fibre and a comparatively strong accumulation on the α-fibre at {116}〈110〉 is developed. The occurrence of these texture components can be explained by subgrain growth and strain induced boundary migration, respectively. Due to nucleation at cementiteparticles the recrystallization texture is weakened and the maxima are broadened in comparison to the deformation texture. The accumulation at {116}〈110〉 provides the nuclei for the recrystallization after the second cold rolling reduction of only 10% when only grains with low stored energy are able to act as recrystallization nuclei so that an orientation selection of near {001}〈110〉 oriented grains takes place.
