New Species, New Subspecies, and New Records of Butterflies from China (VI)

The present paper deals with descriptions of 12 new species, 2 new subspecies, 1 new form, 6 new record species of Nymphalidae from China and reports 4 known species, which were not included in "Monographia Rhopalocerorum Sinensium". All the type specimens are kept in the Entomological Museum, Northwest Sci-Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry. 1. Cethosia rubra, sp. nov. (Figs. 1a, 1b) This species is similar to C. biblis Drury, but fore wings with a white outer medianline maculae at apex of upperside, in which no black spot. Upperside of hind wings without a outermedanline maculae. Underside of hind wings without other black macula expect outer marginal area with a row of black lucered stripe and unclear and white outer medianline band of macula. Holotype:♀, Quanzhou, Fujian, coll. Huang Bingwen. 2. Rohana parvata Moore, new record from China (Figs. 3c, 3d) Specimen examined: 1♀, Malipo, Yunnan Province, 1996, coll. Lu Shengxian. 3. Dilipa shaanxiensis, sp. nov. (Figs. 4c, 4d) This species is related to D. fenestra Leech, but may be distinguished from the latter by followings: ① basal area of upperside of fore wings black; ② two black stripes on the upperside of hind wings between basal area and black transverse band. Holotype:♀, Shaanxi, coll. Lei Shenghui. 4. Sasakia tetra, sp. nov. (Figs. 5a, 5b) This species is distinguishable from S. Charonda (Hewitson) in: ① fore wings of male without glossing violet scales on the upperside. submarginal and the row of white maculae shifts inwards and connects with outer medianline bands. ② Hind wings without black(white) macula at basal area and without submarginal series of bands. Underside of fore wings with obvious series of submarginal bands. Underside of hind wings greyish white, veins black, basal area pale black and with 2 pale spots. Submargin with a serie of triangular black maculae. Holotype: ♂,Ruyuan, Gangdong Province, 03-VII-1994, coll. Chen Xichang. 5. Diagona japonica Felder, new record from china (Figs. 6a, 6b) Specimen examined: 1♂, Jiangyou, Sichuan Province, 12-VIII-1995, coll. Li Haibing. 6. Euripus yunnanensis, sp. nov. (Figs. 8a, 8b) This species resembles E. consimilis Westwood, but hind wings is white, not yellow, anterior part of exterior margin not black. Holotype: ♂,Yunnan Province, 20-VIII-1994, coll. Tao Lihu. 7. Euripus nyctelius marginalis, ssp. nov (Figs. 9c, 9d) This species is related to E. nyctelius eaplocoides Felder et Felder, but may bedistinguished from the latter and other subspecies by the following characters: fore wings without a oblique white band, hind wings with a regular outer-medianline band of maculae and marginal line band of maculae. Holotype: ♀, Guangdong Province, 07-X-1992, coll. Chen Xichang. 8. Mesoacidalia clara neoclara, ssp. nov. (Figs. 10a, 10b, 10c, 10d) This subspecies is distinguishable from the nominate subspecies M. clara clara Blanchard in: fore wings with obviously marginal bands, which forms a series of lacered macula of the upperside. Median bands on hind wings linked a series of chain macula, which rounded yellow spots. Holotype: ♂, Gansu Province, coll. Wu Nan-xing, Paratype: 1♀, Xiangride, Qinghai Province, 04-VII-1981. 9. Lexias bandita, sp. nov, (Figs. 12a, 12b) This species is distinguished from L dirtea (Fabricius) by: basal area of fore wings with three obvious white median outerline band of maculae. Holotype: ♂,Quanzhou, Fujian Province , coll. Huang Bingwen. 10. Parthenos sinensis, sp. nov. (13a, 13b) This species resembles P. sylvia Cramer but differ in: fore and hind wings without submarginal line and submarginal band. Underside of hind wings grey, without any macula expect costal area with 3 small spots and a inner median line. Holotype: ♂,Quanzhou, Fujian Province, coll. Huang Bingwen. 11. Modusa neoprocris, sp. nov. (Figs. 14a, 14b) This species is related to M. procris Cramer, but white macula on upperside of wings desenerate, underside of hind wings without any white band of maculae. Holotype
