Interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) are a heterogeneous group of diseases ( i.e. idiopathic interstitial pneumonia, autoimmune ILDs, environmental exposure-related ILDs, sarcoidosis) but share several common clinical and pathophysiological features [1, 2].
