Development of CAD system for railroad wheel forming based on FEA

Based on the die design method researching and FEA for rail wheel forming,a CAD system for designing rail wheel forming dies is described in this paper.The CAD system can be applied to the production of rail wheel with forging-rolling method.A data interface with the FEA software SuperForm is supplied in this CAD system.Optimization of die design can be achieved with the help of FEA.With the help of the CAD system, the period of die designing is shortened and the efficiency is improved.
