The protein expression of P_(53) and bcl-2 in lens epithelial cells of senile cataract

2003
Objective:To study the protein expression of P53 and Bcl-2 in the lens epithelial cells of senile cataract, and to assess the relationships between P53,Bcl-2 and the apoptosis of senile cataract lens cells. Methods:With the SABC methods, staining by using DAB,detective the protein expression positive cell rate of P53 and Bcl-2. Results:In the epithelial cells of the normal lens, there was almost no P53 protein expression, but in the cells of the senile cataract lens, the rate of positive cells of P53 protein expression was 16 9~19 1%.For Bcl-2 protein expression,no positive cells were seen in both the two kinds of epithelial cells. Conclusions:P53 protein expression is higher in senile cataract lens epithelial cells.P53 may promote the apoptosis in the lens epithelial cells of senile cataract.
