Comparative Experiment of New Eggplant Varieties in Henan

In order to select one or two good varieties from five new eggplant varieties for field production, a comparative experiment was conducted. The results showed that Zhuqie 9 and Zhengqie 2 had good performance in the test. They both had moderate growth period and preferable comprehensive assessments, and its were suitable for extension. Zhuqie 9 had strong growth vigor, moderate stress resistance and total strong disease resistance; and yield could reach 1 976.54 kg/667m2 at earlier stage and 5 062.53 kg/667m2 at total harvest, all ranking the first. While Zhengqie 2 had strong growth vigor, strong resistance to stress and disease; and its yield of earlier stage and total harvest both ranked the second, 1 1789.78 kg/667m2 and 4 922.46 kg/667m2, respectively.
