Object of the present invention is to provide a mixture of metallic copper or copper oxide, or both a main active ingredient, silver as a co-catalyst support is alumina or silica for hydrogenation of ethanol acetate catalyst and its preparation method and application. The catalyst is environmentally friendly and more suitable for industrial production, having a high reactivity and a high selectivity at a low temperature and pressure conducive to reducing consumption of raw materials for industrial production, to improve the technical and economic; and good catalyst stability, catalyst long life.
