How Large Should Be the Fiber Effective Area: A Network-Oriented Case Study?
2021
In elastic optical network, lightpath provisioning using spectrum-assignment schemes and optical signal-to-noise-ratio (OSNR) model show that, while lowering fiber loss is always helpful, increasing fiber effective area beyond 110 μm2 does not improve spectrum efficiency.
