INVESTIGATION OF A FEW PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF SALINE SOILS OF BANGLADESH

2011
Soil samples were collected from saline locations of Bangladesh namely Sunderban- forest, Nohati, Doratanaghat, Alipur, Budhhata, Rahimpur, Kula, Dumki, Amati, Rajbari and non-saline BAU Farm, Mymensingh to study some physical properties. The highest value of particle density was 2.56g/cm 3 in BAU Farm at 30-45 cm depth and highest value of bulk density was 1.50 g/cm 3 in Dumki at 30-45 cm depth. The highest porosity was found 48.67% in Sundarban Forest at 0-15 cm soil depth. The infiltration rate of Dumki was 12 times higher than that of BAU Agronomy Farm. The water content increase with the 15 bar pressure in the soil profile.
