The Okinawa Urban Monorail

A new monorail line is under construction in Okinawa, Japan. This paper describes the monorail, the need and decision for the monorail line, characteristics, financial aspects for the company operating the monorail and the official approval from central government. The Okinawa Urban Monorail is scheduled to open in 2003.
