In this paper we propose a mathematical model to calculate the elastic properties and the morphology of red blood cells. The model represents the erythrocyte as a homogeneous elastic body with elasticity depending on the distance to the symmetry center of the erythrocyte. The data for modeling were taken from experimental data obtained by atomic force microscopy (including the elastic properties of the membrane of erythrocytes and their geometry) and Coulter method. In the model the elasticity of the membrane varied with the distance to the center within 1-1.6 kPa. The calculation of the elastic properties are executed by the finite element method, the dependence of the morphology of the red blood cell from the pressure on the membrane are calculated. External pressure is varied in the range of 0.5-3 kPa, which allowed us to estimate the osmotic pressure for each form of the erythrocytes. The calculated data agree well with the atomic force microscopy for smear blood of a patient with bronchial asthma.
