Whole-Lung Lavage

2021
Whole-lung lavage is a therapeutic procedure performed to remove material from the lung. Pulmonary alveolar proteinosis caused by a disruption in surfactant metabolism is the most frequent indication for whole-lung lavage but is very rare in pediatrics. This chapter reviews the indications, necessary equipment, preparations, and different techniques for performing whole-lung lavage at our center.
