Description of Latica, a new monotypic spider genus from Uruguay and Argentina (Araneae, Herpyllinae, Gnaphosidae): an integrative approach

2020
Abstract Latica galeanoi, the sole species in a new genus within Gnaphosidae, is described from Uruguay and Argentina based on morphological, molecular and biogeographic data. The genus is sister to the rest of the Herpyllinae subfamily. The delimitation of this new genus is supported by various plesiomorphic and synapomorphic characters, which represents homoplasies that allow the genus to be distinguished from other representatives of the subfamily. Species distribution modeling suggests that the most favourable area for the species is the Pampa province.
