Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor: case report with immunohistochemical and ultrastructural study and review of the literature.
2013
A calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT), also known as a Pindborg tumor, is a benign odontogenic neoplasm first described by the Danish pathologist, Dr Jens Pindborg, in 1955. CEOT is an uncommon, locally ggressive tumor that accounts for 0.4% to 3% of all dontogenic tumors. Since 2004, approximately 200 ases of CEOT have been reported. Because the tumor is o rare, its biological characteristics have not been adeuately studied. The authors present the case of a 50ear-old woman with CEOT and the results of immunoistochemical and electron microscopic studies.
