2020
Objective To investigate and analyze the Imaging and cardiac features characteristics of elderly patients with novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID⁃19) Methods Clinical data of 21 elderly patients with COVID⁃19 in Guangzhou Eighth People’s hospital from January to February in 2020 were retrospectively analyzed as a contrast of 32 young patients Laboratory data 0f myocardial damage and inflammatory markers and chest CT images were analysed Results Elderly COVID⁃19 patients had more underlying cardiovascular diseases, and the proportion of critically ill was higher than the control group (P < 0 05) The Positive rate of serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), serum myoglobin kinase (MYO), serum creatine kinase MB isoenzyme (CK-MB) and serum c⁃reactive protein (CRP) in the elderly is higher than the control group (P < 0 05) The elderly chest CT involvement score was higher than the control group, showing extensive consolidation and ground-glass opacity showing multi⁃focal ground glass opacity Conclusion Elderly patients with underlying diseases may be more susceptible to COVID⁃19, and were more prone to myocardial injury and severe pulmonary infection, becoming critically ill
