This paper deals with the comparison of experimental results of non-sidegrooved compact tension specimens with results of FE-computation on the basis of Gurson's model. The damage parameter of the material were identified by FE-analysis using test results from notched cylidrical tension specimens as well as from fracture mechanics specimens. With these material parameters and by means of 3D simulation size and shape of stable growing cracks and the local stress state can be determined correctly. The ductile failure of specimens and of components of different geometry and type of loading can be predicted just as well.
