Tabagismo e a perda óssea peri-implantar

Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir de maneira enfatica, a partir de revisoes literarias nas mais diversas areas diretamente relacionadas a saude, a importância que os cirurgioesdentistas,em todas as disciplinas da odontologia, devem se preocupar no tratamento de pacientes tabagistas, por se tratarde um fator prejudicial desde uma mais comum reavaliacao e manutencao dentaria ate a cicatrizacao de cirurgiasextensas e reconstrutivas. As interferencias e intercorrenciasodontologicas causadas pelo habito de fumar aqui descritas, relacionam nao somente o prejuizo das mais de quatro mil substancias encontrada no cigarro, mas tambem o calor que este produz e que podem causas prejuizos irreparaveis na associacao de intervencoes cirurgicas odontologicas (AU). The objective of this article is to emphatically explain, basedon published studies in the most diverse areas of health, the reasons why all dental surgeons and professionals inall dental specialties should give the maximum importance and concerns to patients addicted to tobacco. Because itis a detrimental factor, from the most routine checkup and the fi lling of a cavity, to the healing process after a major surgery or a reconstructive surgery. The interferences andinteractions listed here, caused by the smoking habit, are not only related to the damage caused by the more than four thousand substances found in a cigarette, but also by the heat in the mouth which can cause irreparable damage in association with a dental surgery (AU).
