INITIAL ENERGY OF HYDROCARBON FRAGMENT IONS
1963
Summary The kinetic energy distributions of fragment ions from methane, acetylene, ethylene, ethane, propane and n-butane have been determined by means of the deflection method. The distribution of ions with the maximum number of carbon atoms are always quasi-thermal. Many of the other ions have satellite groups of high kinetic energy. The relative intensity of these high energy groups is normally very low with the exception of H + , H + 2 and the ions of the C I -group.
