The invention relates to a methanol-to-gasoline catalyst and a preparation method thereof. The catalyst is formed by synthesizing common aluminum source and silicon source as a small grain crystal ZSM-5 molecular sieve parent in proper silica-alumina ratio. The ZSM-5 molecular sieve parent is firstly pretreated in high temperature calcination to regulate acidity, and then the pre-treated ZSM-5 molecular sieve parent is sufficiently mixed with an HY molecular sieve and an adhesive to perform extrusion molding, and finally, substances such as Ni, V, F and P are loaded. The catalyst prepared by the invention has the advantages of being low in production cost, high in methanol conversion rate, hard in activity attenuation, high in product gasoline yield, high in octane value, and low in heavy aromatics content.
