Liquid crystal polymer-metal laminated article and production thereof

1995
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal polymer-metal laminated article having characteristics fitted to the electronic industry, that is, characteristics such as high peel strength, good dimensional stability, soldering stability or the like. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal polymer-metal laminated article consists of one or more crystal polymer layer and one or more metal foil layer and is produced by introducing a liquid crystal polymer film and a metal foil into a press and pressing them for a residence time of 0.5-1,000 sec at temp. higher than the m.p. of the polymer but lower than the deterioration temp. thereof under pressure of 5-100 bar. The peel strength of the laminated article is not less than 10 N/cm and a change of the dimensional stability thereof is less than 0.2%. A reinforcing fiber fabric is used in the laminated article at any time to make it possible to increase mechanical strength or dimensional stability. This laminated article is especially useful for a circuit board.
