The effect of sinefungin on the biosynthesis of ganefromycin. Structures of ganefromycins δ1–4

Abstract In the presence of sinefungin Streptomyces lydicus ssp. tanzanius , the ganefromycin producer, makes only the truncated ganefromycins δ 1–4 ( 3–6 ). Inhibition of O-methylation steps results in the accumulation of intermediates which are blocked from further biosynthetic transformations.
