Evalution of Cognitive and Emotional Intelligence in Primary Care

All of the general cognitive abilities; like learning, understanding, percepting, complying with new situations, analyzing and making criticism constitudes intelligence. Intellectual intelligence is to understand the relationship between abstract or concrete objects with the help of concepts and perceptions, abstract thinking, evaluating data, reasoning and the ability to use these mental functions harmoniously for a particular purpose. Emotional intelligence includes emotional awareness, directing emotions, self-action, empathy and the ability to manage relationships. Although utilization rates of these intelligences may vary from individual to individual, people use both of them. People need both of the intelligences to be successful. Family medicine centers, are the perfect places to follow up childrens’ intelligence progress. Besides; intellectual and emotional intelligence must be diagnosed by family doctors. In this article, concepts related to intellectual intelligence and emotional intelligence theories and definitions were summarized.
