Disclosed in an embodiment of the invention is an identity authentication method, comprising: receiving a request for identity authentication of a target user; transmitting identity authentication information about the target user to a user socially associated with the target user; receiving feedback information returned, according to the identity authentication information, by the user socially associated with the target user; and acquiring, according to the feedback information, a result of the identity authentication of the target user. Also disclosed is an identity authentication device. The invention enables more accurate identity verification of a user, thereby effectively preventing a security problem resulting from erroneous authentication.
