Linear-to-circular Polarization Converter Utilizing Double-arc-based Metasurface at Terahertz Frequency

2018
Polarization is a property of electromagnetic waves and plays an irreplaceable role in electromagnetic devices. In this paper, we propose a reflective polarization converter in terahertz regime, which utilizes the double-arc-based metasurface and can efficiently convert the linear polarized wave into the circular polarized wave. The polarization converter achieves an excellent effect that the reflection coefficient amplitude of the two reflection components is approximately equal to 0.7 in the frequency range of 0.59-1.38THz, while the phase difference between the two components is about 90° or −270°. Meanwhile, the ellipticity of proposed polarization converter is close to 1 in the operating frequency band with the conversion efficiency ≥ 80%.
