Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment procedure for congenital cervical germ cell tumor

2021
Abstract Congenital cervical germ cell tumors are a rare location for extragonadal germ cell tumors that may lead to acute airway obstruction. We present the unique case and successful resection of an immature cervical teratoma. Urgent Ex Utero Intrapartum Treatment (EXIT) procedure was performed via Cesarean section with subsequent endotracheal intubation to maintain the airway. Successful surgical resection of the mass at day six of life was performed showing histologically immature teratoma along with gliomatosis in surrounding lymph node tissue. The patient recovered well with no abnormalities on follow up at 14 months.
