Analysis of experimental data on proton scattering by /sup 50/Cr and /sup 52/Cr near 6 MeV

1980
An analysis is made of the set of experimental data on the energy and angular dependences of the spin-flip probability and the differential cross sections for elastic and inelastic (2/sup +//sub 1/) scattering of protons by /sup 50/Cr and /sup 52/Cr and the region of 6 MeV. Absolute and relative contributions of the statistical mechanism to the proton inelastic-scattering cross section are evaluated by a model-independent method. Probabilities of population of substates with M = +- 1 of the 2/sup +//sub 1/ level are determined. The coherent components sigma/sub c/ and S/sub c/ are separated, and their energy and angular dependences are analyzed by the optical model + resonance program (elastic scattering) and the DWBA + resonance program (inelastic scattering). The experimental data for /sup 52/Cr are satisfactorily described in the region of resonances with J/sup ..pi../ either 5/2/sup +/ and 3/2/sup -/, or 1/2/sup +/ and 3/2/sup -/. Corresponding values obtained for GAMMA/sub p//sub 0/, GAMMA/sub l/'j', GAMMA/sup arrow-down/, phi/sub 1'j/', and phi/sub 0/. For /sup 50/Cr it was not possible to obtain a satisfactory description of the strong dependence of S/sub c/ on the energy and scattering angle of the protons.
