Using Magnetic Photonic Crystal to Achieve High Performance Broadband Band-Pass Filter

2018
A new band-pass filter based on magnetic photonic crystals was proposed. The filter designed in microwave X-band showed a broad pass band about 1.7 GHz and a good shape factor which was about 1.7/1.6 at 30/3 dB. The filter had moderate insertion loss, high out-at-band suppression, flatness and good linear-phase response in the pass band. Base on the design, a sample filter was fabricated and measured. The measurement results were in a good agreement with the design. The bandwidth was over 1.4 GHz and shape factor was 1.6/1.0 at 30/3 $\mathbf{dB}$. The filter could meet the requirements of the high-performance broadband filters in microwave communication systems.
