Comparison of all-grating fiber and enhanced backscatter fiber for distributed strain sensing

We investigate the limits of distributed strain sensing using all-grating fiber. We find that the sensing range is limited by the oft-neglected autocorrelation of the impulse response in addition to the Born approximation. Enhanced backscatter fiber increases the sensing range at the cost of spatial resolution and measurement speed.
