Product Development in Virtual Computer Integrated Engineering Systems using DfM and DfA Principles - part II

2016
Due to increasing competition in the manufacturing industry, the search for better and shorter product development and lower cost led to the emergence of design and manufacturing integration processes. An advanced integrated design environment, such as Catia system enables the engineers to evaluate multiple constraints from manufacturing, assembly, service at the design stage. This virtual environment with knowledge of DFM/DFA strategies help companies to develop new products that are feasible to manufacture. The resulting question is: ‘how can virtual environment be used effectively to enhance manufacturability during early design?’ This problem using practical examples will be discussed in the article.
